Connecting goods and services with sponsors of Syrian refugees
posted over 4 years ago by OfficeoftheMayor from Office of the Mayor
On behalf of City Council, I would again like to express my gratitude for the outpouring of support for Syrian refugees that will be arriving in our community.
Through the recovers.org webpage hundreds of people have registered to donate goods & services. We thank every one of you for your generosity.
The Mayor’s Office will be connecting directly with all known local groups involved in this initiative to ensure they are aware of the vast array of items listed on the webpage.
It is important to note that it may take a period of time for groups to connect with those offering goods and services. If you are a donor of goods or you have a service or skill to volunteer and you have not heard from a sponsor group, we suggest you stay listed on the page as more families are expected to arrive over coming weeks and months.
We have heard long-term rental accommodations are a challenge for some groups welcoming newcomers. If you have a long-term rental available, we encourage you to fill out a housing form listed under ‘Housing’ at www.burlington.ca/welcomesyria.
If you are a group seeking housing, please contact email@example.com to check in if there is an accommodation that would match your request.
Thank you for again for your support of Syrian refugees. Your generosity represents our community at its best.
Mayor Rick Goldring
